Sampled on nitro draft at Hugo's this beer poured a black color with an enormous creamy beige head that lingered forever and left no lacing. The aroma was bitter with sour brewed coffee. The flavor was bitter with wood, roasty malts and coffee. Medium length finish. Medium bodied and smooth. Meh

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Greg & Jane’s Beer and Wine. Appearance is opaque black with reddish-brown at bottom edge of glass, finger-width brown foamy head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong roasted malts, bordering on burnt, coffee. Taste is as aroma but coffee is fairly restrained. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with thick texture, soft carbonation and mix of sweet and bitter finish. Overall, oftentimes a brewer goes to heavy with an adjunct but this might be just the opposite. Kudos for not overwhelming the beer with the coffee but a little stronger contribution from the coffee would be welcome.

This was poured into a mug.
The appearance was a black color with a semi-thick roaming ringy off white foamy lacing fall in and around a dieing head. Spotty lace.
The aroma takes on rich sweet coffee to cocoa bean, bringing in subtle notes of caramel, some coffee grounds, and a little bit of cake.
The flavor yields to the sweetness initially and then bringing in the coffee grounds a bit more harsh than expected, acceptable. Dry slick semi-sweet milk chocolate aftertaste. Sticky sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Dry rough sort of slick feel sticking to my tongue. Slight silky oaty smoothness. Good carbonation.
Overall, sweet stout or oatmeal stout? Some sort of nice blend between the two, seemingly enough. Would bang again.

A deep dark stout with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, nice bitter chocolate with coffee grind, musty character, light mineral notes, light vanilla, treacle, very nice. In mouth, a nice bitter chocolate with coffee grind, musty character, light powdery mouth feel, nice and smooth. On tap at Syracuse Winter Brewfest 2017.

New Beer Distributors, NYC bottle ($2.50): pours black with a beige head. Aroma is coffee and hints of milk chocolate, along with some molasses or stuff like that. Taste is kind of sweet and full of coffee. OK coffee stout.

When I saw the name, I thought impy stout but its really just sweet coffee stout. Bot. Smells like coffee with a little dark chocolate in the background. Taste is milk stout like with some coffee and a dull dark chocolate backbone, taste is same as the nose. Think rich cold black coffee flavors. The coffee is so strong, it covers the alky rather well. Somebody may drink this thinking is simple chilled black coffee. Even without the taste of alky, that coffee is so dark and so bitter black, whew. It takes a little away from the enjoy-ability factor. Interesting at first but gets a little difficult in the end.
