Draught at Lulu’s, 8/4/16.
Thoroughly hazy, though not cloudy/soupy, golden-maize body is topped by a medium-sized, well-retained, white head.
Lovely nose shows more restraint than the bigger juice bombs, with more stonefruit/nectarine skin-like character, some bits of ruby red grapefruit and traces of pine. Biscuity malts in the background provide little/no maltiness in the nose while lemon and orange rind build up on the finish, with spicy and dank notes lingering. No alcohol or flaw.
In the mouth it shows another of Grimm’s more subtle IPAs. Really enjoying these. Not a burst of intense juice, but rather spicy, green, citrics meeting nectarine, dry mango and peach on top of a creamy, wheat-laden texture with intense softness and tight carbonation. As it warms and breathes it continues to open up with more complexity and, obviously, more juiciness. Great stuff, as usual, from Grimm.
