David and Robert both love bourbon. We mean love bourbon. Maybe that’s why they didn’t beat around the bush here. Sure, you can age subtly in bourbon barrels. And subtlety is sometimes enough. But, with the Anvil, the real spark ignited when we tossed nuance aside and added a healthy measure of our proprietary barrel-proof bourbon flavor. Suddenly, something intense, alive and memorable happened. To our palates, it offers a clean, lively, aromatic presence with a layered smoky finish. It’s truly integrated and rounded, yet vitally distinct. Enjoy.

Ok, not looking forward to bourbon spoiling my cider but wtf? At least its in a bottle and its not even a screw top either! Nose is a little alarming, bad cider with hints of bourbon whisky, how rude! Clear pale with some decent visible co2 putting on an eye display. Taste is cider and its sweet and it does have a tingle of whiskey in there, just barely. Yes, also had a good sharp edge amount of co2 on the palate. Now, in the middle, I think I'm picking up some soap in the taste, a little bit of a turn off. And yes, that odd nose comes in and bite-chah. A little more rude than most sonaomas. Not quite as good as I was expecting. Bar soapy palate continues to the end. Disappointing, but hey, what can you expect from another alky product's effect on beer? Want bourbon? Go drink it, leave my ciders alone.

12oz Newcastle-esque shaped bottle from a 7-11 in downtown Boston. Poured into a rounded pint glass. Big, balloon-y, quick hitting, mellow white head. Clear, light copper, spirited body. Smell is strong in corn... Something like cotton candy. Something vaguely leathery. Butterscotch. Sharp apples. Bananas Foster. Taste is thankfully a little cleaner. Boozy butterscotch & bourbon likeness upfront, with sharp, determined apples bringing up the rear. Buttery... Something tastes fake, but I can't quite tell. So-so carbonation just makes it even more difficult. Ugh.

355ml bottle. Pours a clear yellow-gold with a thin, short lived, white head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of apples, bourbon and oak. Sweet flavour of apples, caramel, vanilla and oak with light bourbon in a dry finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Just ok, I thought this would be better.

Apple, ivory soap, bourbon aroma. Clear amber, actually formed a head which I find unusual for a cider. Overripe apples, soapy overtones. Light body, easy carbonation. Not slick or oily, but flavor and aroma are distinctly of some kind of soap.

Bottle, thanks to Misterburd. Clear amber with frothy off-white small head, faint bourbon aroma, fizzy carbonation, lightly sweet taste, thin body, dry finish. Quite crisp and dry, bourbon flavor was not very noticeable.

Tasting at Matt’s
Blond color. Semi sweet cider, not much character, I’m not sure there’s bourbon. Simple.

22 oz. bottle, pours a clear golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of bourbonized apples -- but very weak and cheap tasting. Flavour is not too bad, with notes of bourbon and weak lightly sweetened apples. Very cheap and simplistic, but clean and drinkable. Not terrible, but lacking complexity. Alright.
