Crisp and smooth, our golden lager is crafted from Midwestern malts and flaked with sweet corn. This is our most refreshing beer, with a mellow maltiness and a light, clean finish.

On tap. Pours with a crystal clear golden yellow hue with a small white head that leaves some lace. Aromas are sweet, corn, DMS, husky, grainy, sweet, bready, sulfur. Mostly clean other than that. Flavors are bready, a bit nutty, mild DMS, light citrus, herbal hop. Hazelnut. Pretty bland. Soggy malt. Dry, thin, medium lively bubbles, bland character but not horrendous.

Heartland, Union Square sample: Pours a copperish color with minimal head. Aroma is kind of macro oriented, so is the taste. Corn is really prevalent and unlike most of the other crap beers in the world, this one proudly proclaims its origins. I mean it is drinkable, but i feel like I am drinking Pabst.

Draught at Heartland Times Square, New York, NY. Hazy pale amber, minimal head. Vague soapy nose. Sweet and fruity with clean, rounded mouthfeel and light body. Notes of caramel and plastic. Low bitterness. Feels sterile.

Draught at Heartland Brewery & Rotisserie, 23rd July 2009. Gold with foaming off-white head. Maltiness to the fore with the perfume of sweetcorn (fairly strong aroma, that I felt worked well). A dryish finish on a smooth mouthfeel. Pleasant drink, even for a hop lover like me!

Location: On tap at the 51st and 6th location of the brew pub

Aroma: Earthy malts/barley
Appearance: light orange color, thin/med head
Flavor: Dominated by the malts, some sweet corn, not hoppy at all
Palate: Light to medium body, leaning light
Overall Impression: A standard, not too exciting lager typical of the lager offerings from other chain brewpubs...
