The strikingly authentic English-style pale ale is brewed with all-English malts and a pound-and-a-half of Pacific Northwest hops per barrel. It is medium-bodied, crisp and well-balanced with a flavor profile featuring subtle notes of caramel, toffee and toasted malt, counterbalanced by the ideal level of hop bitterness. The delicate herbal hop finish is produced by Goldings whole leaf hops.

October 2003 bottle. Smells like a whole lot of hops, lightly spicy, grassy and a bit of doughiness. Looks the part, orange/amber, light carbonation and good white head. Flavor has some dry caramel malt, mixed in with some fluffy hops. Nothing terribly remarkeable. Well-made and good for what it is. Medium body, not much thinning, soft carbonation.

I was intrigued by the mention of bubblegum in several reviews of this beer, and I was happily surprised by the sweet gum aroma of Anglers Ale. Flavor is malty, much like a Bass Pale Ale, with a hint of sweet bubblegum and a touch of hops, although this element could have been stronger. Still a nice brew.

Part of and Arcadia sampler: Not a very good translation of the style. Pours a clear amber color with a medium off-white head that disappeared quickly. Thin and quick lacing. Aroma was malty and slightly pungent. Flavor is mostly malty with a hops presence and kind of sour aftertaste. This was too mild to be a great EPA in my opinion.
