This dark beer has a big, malty character with the added sweetness of chocolate. Chocolate Bock is slowly aged on a bed of rare dark cocoa nibs, the primary ingredient in chocolate. Known for their quality, these cocoa nibs harvested in Ecuador, impart complex aromas and flavors from chocolaty to fruity, nutty, earthy, and citrusy.

Draft. Poured dark w/medium head. Chocolate taste and aroma, almost peanut buttery. Could use a bit more kick but on the bright side pretty drinkable.

Bottle. Treated myself to this treat for Christmas last year. It was really good. Nice balance in the flavor and not near as sweet as one would think. Great beer.

Chocolate malt and hay aroma. Brown with giant light brown head. Moderately sweet chocolate malt, and mildly bitter/astringent dry hay flavor. Body on the light side.

Hah, thought I had a bottle of this already, guess not? $1 for this bottle on the clearance rack, heheh. From a bottle its big and almost black with a big tan head. Looks like a nitro. Taste is thick rich sweet bock fer sure. The chocolate really comes across like mild sweet caramel rather than a choco beer. Yes, sweet caramel with just a hint of chocolate I'd say. Different, and probably a little too sweet for this lager lover. Not bad, actually better than most domestic over the top chocolate brews. Decent ending, does not turn me away.

Pours dark brown with a coffee colored head. Aroma of malt. Tastes like coffee with a toasted note to it. Palate includes chocolate and coffee notes. Really good, full bodied.

Pretty much exactly what it says it is, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Gentle caramel malt notes give way to a milk chocolate center, hints of raisin and fig with slight hints of java and floral hops. Finishes semidry, but the chocolate never leaves the palate, leading to a cocoa-dusted fade. Too confectionary for my tastes, but drinkable. Pours dark brown with a minor beige head and slight lacing. Chocolate nose, no more, no less. Good texture keeps the sweetness from growing clingy and artificial. Okay.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Black with dark brown highlights and medium/small beige head. Aroma is chocolate, medium/light body, lower carbonation, and small bubble lacing. Taste is chocolate and some roasted malt. Pretty good beer.

Bottle pour into a pint glass. Aroma is big roasted malt with chocolate and mild vanilla. Appearance is clear, dark reddish brown with nice sparkle, 1/2 finger width beige head (with nice crackle) and trace lacing. Taste is sweet cocoa with mild vanilla. Palate is full bodied with awesome creamy texture, above average carbonation (which detracts slightly from the creamy vibe) and nice long malty, cocoa finish. Overall, Sam Adams often produces middle of the pack stuff but this shows they can craft something special when they put their minds to it. Good stuff all around.
