Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - close to opaque black with a nice crema head. Nose - initial dairy thing, then light cardboard note, then toffee follows it in. Taste - initially slight oxidised cardboard again, then liquorice, nuts, praline generally. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a dry and fairly balanced finish. Overall - this needs to be re-rated as the bottle was a little past its BBD.

pitch black color. Brownies soaked in bakers chocolate. Not sweet nose. Med full mouth, decent bakers chocolate and brownies mouths. Very dry. Lingering chocolatey finish. Fantastic.

Pours a thin dark brown from a bottle, sour milk, acidic, not bad but not great.

On tap @ Amundsen. This is a deep and dark brown looking one, only a small filmy sidesticking little brownish head. Smells mildly brown sugar sweet with nice sweet chocolate and roasted malty tones. It's quite minty in the taste. Minty toothpaste, lots of peppermint and sweet cocoa powder. Nice gliding and oily in the mouth it is, and it's soft on the prickling carbonation. There is no coming around that it is quite out there on the sweet branch this, but it somehow keeps me interested all the way. Quite good! 14.02.2014

Sweet stout of double the average strength, with thinnish but stable, beige, dense head over a very dark chestnut coloured beer, hazy, almost black. Aroma strongly dominated by cured meat, beef broth and smoked bacon, bayleaf, raisins, dried plums, vanilla, baked banana, dried leaves, peat, soy sauce, fondant chocolate, caramel, nutmeg, cappuccino. Soft sweetish onset of candied and dried fruits, subtle sugar presence (candi sugar like, but I guess it’s the lactose speaking), hints of raisin, pear and some banana, very soft carbonation accomplishing a mellow, ’fatty’ mouthfeel, very subtle salty touch, supple maltiness, caramelly, nutty and a bit chocolatey, with a gentle roasted bitterness in the finish (still more than usual for a sweet stout though), leafy and slightly peppery hops and a background presence of gentle, warming alcohol, though it remains very well hidden, lending this beer a remarkable high drinkability in relation to its ABV. Far from the most complex stout I had, but well balanced, elegant and interesting.

BOTTLE 355 ML from CH-303.

Look: almost black with red highlights, creamy mocha head.
Aroma: dried fruit sweetness, light ashy notes, some light alcohols?
Taste: creamy body, you can feel the sugary and fruity sweetness, followed by a sudden bitter kick. Not much roasty malts.

Bottle from BOTW. Nice nose: chocolate, brown sugar, cream, coffee, nice roast. Some soy as well. Black with pretty tan head. Nicely sweet but not cloying, vanilla and cream, chocolate, umami, light berries, cafe au lait. Full body. Good.

12oz bottle from Wegman’s, West Seneca, NY. Pitch black with a ring of tan head; well hopped with a smooth lactic body; and a gently hopped finish. Not what I’d expect from a Milk Stout.
