Drought. Amber-orange color, white foamy large head, pumpkin aroma, sweetish taste with pumpkin flavor, low carbonation, abrupt finish with bitterness at the end. Not bad for a seasonal but a bit sweet for my taste. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pumpkin Barrel Ale on 28 Sep 2013 at 11:12 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Rich amber and copper coloured body witha rich, thick, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of pumpkin, squash, cinnamon, nutmeg, alcohol and a bit of anise - very nice and spicey. Medium-bodied; Strong spice up front with some coriander seed and anise noticeable, but of course the squash, nutmeg and cinnamon are all present. Aftertaste shows a nice maltiness with some earthy notes, a bit of light hops and the good spice flavour that shows off just a touch. Overall, a very nice pumpkin-based beer with some great flavours a good complexity throughout. Definitely nice to try! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle from Forager’s City Market in Brooklyn, New York, New York later in the day in my hotel room here in New York.

Location: Draft at Grand Cru in Rhinebeck - 10/1/11

Aroma: This one has a big nose with pumpkin and lots of spice (nutmeg, cinnamon, etc...)
Appearance: This brew pours into the glass a dark orange with a decent sized beige head
Flavor: Tastes right on with the nose, lots of spice flavors mostly, finishes with a touch of earthy hop
Palate: It is medium bodied, it has a quite fizzy feel, and it drys out a bit as the finish tingles on the tongue
Overall Impression: This one had a big spice/pumpkin flavor and nose, which I quite enjoyed. The plus carbonation was really the only "downfall" I had with this one, and it isn't really that big a detraction. I thought this was an enjoyable beer, and a very nice example of style, but I tend to be a big fan of this style in general.
