A dark brown ale with a thin brown head. In aroma, nice coffee and chocolate malt resinous hops, well done. In mouth, a nice chocolate malt with grassy notes , coffee, interesting and smooth. On tap at Empire Brewfest 2014.

Cask at the Ginger Man, NYC, 23/11/13. Mid black with a good sized dirty tan head that thins to covering over time. Nose is pine, roast malt, liqourice, cocoa, jammy berry fruits, skunky hops, bitter tropicals. Taste comprises pine, mineral bite, tropicals, grapferuit, bitter hoppings. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate - works well on cask, earthy hop bitterness in the finish. Top notch CDA.

Tap @Bronx Ale House
Opaque black/brown color, good fluffy brown head. Herbal wild rosemary aroma with some hops and toasted malts. Medium-bodied. Lots of herbal hoppyness, pine needles, light toasted maltyness. Less roast, more pine.

Location: Cask at 4th Ave Pub, 3/16/13

Aroma: It is pretty roasty, with some nice hop notes as well, with chocolate, coffee, and pine
Appearance: Pours an almost black color with a tan head that leaves a good amount of lace
Flavor: Tastes much the same, lots of roasted and malty flavors with a medium pine hop bitterness
Palate: This one had a smooth, creamy cask feel, a medium body, and a medium dry finish to it
Overall Impression: You gotta love any name that describes a beer is both Black and Pale and does so un-ironically (for some reason Black Pale Ale seems much sillier than Black IPA, don't ask me why). Anyway, I thought this was a really nice one.

Drought. Dark brown with brownish spongy large head, coffee and hops aroma, bitter coffee taste, long finish. Tap at the wonderful Brwers Choice event in NYC. Pours black with one finger head. Nice nose of hops and cocoa. Tastes of piney hops, leaf matter, herbal, chocolate, coffee, and lots of roasted malts. A bold tasting fun drink, nicely done I would order again.
