The gnomes of Fairyland are particularly fond of this golden beer. LA CHOUFFE, with its slight hoppy taste, combining notes of fresh coriander and fruity tones, is the drink which gives them their zest for life. At least, that's what these imps say when they are thirsty. Their secret used to be jealously guarded from one generation to the next until the day they shared the recipe with humans to seal their friendship. Of all the legends from the wonderful region of the Belgian Ardennes, the tale of LA CHOUFFE is the one which most merits re-telling.

Hazy golden. Aroma is yeast light spice floral hops hints of honey. Taste is bitter yeast with many spices. Rough and interesting mouthfeel. Coriander finish. Alright but not very exciting.

Im Glas präsentiert sich ein orangegoldenes und opaltrübes belgisches Strong Ale. Die weiße, feinporige Schaumkrone obenauf hält mäßig gut. Im Duft nimmt man sehr typische, dominante belgische Hefe wahr und man merkt sofort, dass dieses Bier ruhig etwas Temperatur verträgt. Nach einigen Minuten vernimmt man dann sehr schöne, süßlich-florale bis honigartige Malznoten sowie reiffruchtiges gelbes Steinobst. Der Antrunk kommt frisch, weichspritzig und in erster Linie süßlich-malzig bis honigartig. Diese malzbetonter Charakter setzt sich am Gaumen fort. Dort aber wirkt eine zarte Adstringenz, ohne wirklich herb zu sein. Auch eine zart Koriandernote und eine leichte Pfeffrigkeit klopft an. Ein leicht wärmendes Mundgefühl, welches sich auch in die Speiseröhre zieht, lässt sich vernehmen. Die Alkoholnote fügt sich aber gut ein und dieses Strong Ale bleibt weich, angenehm und auch gut trinkbar. Der Nachtrunk gestaltet sich fruchtig-hefig, leicht würzig-pfeffrig bis herbal und klingt letztendlich schön trocken aus. Fazit: La Chouffe ist ein Synonym für Qualität - erfüllt alle Erwartungen, zeigt sich sehr solide und lässt sich vielfältig als Speisebegleiter einsetzen.

Degustada en su tulipa, color dorado turbio, buena corona de espuma blanca y esponjosa de mediana retención. Olor muy atractivo a levadura belga, frutal, algo de naranja, plátano, especias...muy rico. En boca es una delicia, de cuerpo medio, algo carbonatada, sedosa, de trago corto, hace honor a sus notas aromáticas, muy redonda. Sin duda una belgian strong excelente con una merecida buena fama.

500ml can at Hair Bar Estudio, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a mostly clear golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, Belgian yeast. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a crisp, yeasty, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.
