Bottle: Golden, hazy to cloudy, small foamy layer; grainy-yeasty and alcoholic nose; moderate sweet-bitter flavvour, full bodied and tart; yeasty-alcoholic finish. One-dimensional and disappointing....

(bottle, 75cl, vintage 2008) Hazy, golden colour with a tall but diminishing frothy white head. Malty, slightly grainy aroma with notes of baking yeast and a spicy touch. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, full bodied with a lively moderate carbonation. Strong malt-accented taste with yeasty notes, alcohol and spices; sweet malty and present spicy finish with a slightly alcoholic aftertaste. Surprisingly one-dimensional. 18.V.11

15/05/2011 75cl bottle @ Brouwerij Het Anker (2011-208)

Cloudy dark yellow to orange beer, off-white creamy head, dissipates fast (too young?). Aroma: lots of peaches, apricots, candi sugar, a little grassy. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: very fruity, yellow fruits like peaches again, then some citrus fruits, a little hoppy. Aftertaste: citrus, still a bit sweet but not cloying, some passion fruits.

Clear golden with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, fruity, yeasty and spicy. Flavor is quite sweet and light bitter. Dry finish with some burning alcohol. I’ll stick to the blue version in the future. 291010

(Bottle, vintage 2008) Golden colour, slightly hazy, with frothy white head. Fruity, perfumy nose with citrus (orange, mandarin), peaches, coriander and flowers. Fruity, spicy taste with notes of mandarin, canned peaches, coriander, flowers, herbs and a vinous finish with a spicy bitterness and a warming touch of alcohol. Almost full body, fairly sweet. Lovely beer.

Bottle. (vintage 2009) Golden with a medium white head. Very soapy aroma with perfume, spices and some alcohol. The same in the taste, also yeast, bubble gum and more alcohol. I was not impressed.

(Bottle, 1.5 l, at the 16th Kerstbierfestival) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had honey, fruitiness and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, honey, sweetness, fruitiness, hops and bitterness.Aftertaste was sweet and bitter, A good example how to brew a sweet beer without making it too sweet and unbalanced.

Bottled 750ml (vintage 2008, Beer Planet)
Orange color, small white head. Aroma has spices, peach, toffee and alcohol. Medium to full bodied. Starts quite spicey and alcoholic. Flavor has peach, apricot, wheaty overriped banana with kick from alcohol. Quite heavy stuff and not as pleasant as the most Gouden Carolous beers.
