Bottle with huge thanks to Rouhlas!! Served at a tasting. Pours clear orange, small off-white head, decent lacing. Aroma is floral, dusty, light notes of pickle, lots of oaky funk, more floral notes. Flavor is light tart, light plus funky, super floral, notes of mineral water. Light body. This is super interesting.

Lindemans geuze flavoured with elderblossom, a one-off blended and bottled for the birth of the second daughter (called Goedele) of the owners of de Heeren van Liedekercke in 2015. Shared with, who else, my girlfriend, who also happens to be called Goedele... Huge thanks to tderoeck for scoring this bottle for us. Egg-white, loosely knit, fizzy head, medium thick but quickly dissolving and eventually disappearing, over a deep orange blonde beer with warm amberish hue, showing lots of refined strings of fizz. Aroma is first and foremost brightly coloured by a generous dosis of elderblossom, with, as usual when it is used in especially sour beers for some reason, a cream cheese- and even seitan-like effect, thickly poured over a noble structure of lambic aromas, lots of old dry sherry, hints of sour crabapples, gooseberries, dried orange zest, white grapes, hay, unripe plums, raspberry vinegar, soaking wet old wood, lemon rind, damp jute bags, melon, unsugared yoghurt. Sour onset, thin lime-like acidity but much more 'deeper' lactic tartness, light grape peel and unripe stonefruit wryness tempered by a subtle, peachy sweetish note hidden underneath; mellow lactic sourness continues to dry the palate but softly so, developing a lot of old lambic-like 'dry sherry' nobility in the end, over a cleanly bready, rounded malt base; refinedly but vividly carbonated still. Tannic woodiness in the end, lots and lots of that cheesy and almost 'meaty' (or, as said, seitan-like) elderblossom, perfumey and evidently very flowery, soaking in fruitiness and tartness with a long, dry, vinous character. Aromatic, elegant, vinous and very noble 'flower geuze', with a much more expressive presence of elderblossom than Lindemans Blossomgeuze (a comparison between these two seems obligatory), with - probably due to aging - a remarkably 'deep' old lambic character beneath. Lovely and very memorable, also considering the moment of sharing it with 'my' Goedele...
