Pours almost black with a small tan head and some lacing. Aroma is whiskey, roast malts. leather and coffee. Flavors are roasted malts, woody, whiskey, vanilla with some bitterness
Very nice and smooth, tasty.

Bottle from the Brewery - pours pitch black with no head (no carbonation evident) Aroma and taste of roasted malts, chocolate, liquorice , light smokiness, whisky wooden tinged nuances on the palate. Slick mouthfeel. Lovely.

Oily pour, near black, with no carbonation, and therefore no head. Nice aroma of chocolate, then biscuits, with a hint of tobacco, and some cardboard later. Thick mouthfeel, with a very gentle carbonation making it’s appearance; good chocolate flavor, dark caramel, liquorice, traces of roasted malt and leather; the final is weak, short, empty; no real evidence of the whiskey.
Besides the nice aroma, it’s rather purposeless.

Bottle. Pour black with a thin brown head that dissipates quickly and nearly completely. Aroma has lots of dark grains and roasted malts with a bit of underlying whiskey. Flavor has lots of dark grains with a bit of roasted malts and a good amount of whiskey coming through in the finish.

Bottle thanks to Ben! Pours opaque black, secondary tiny tan head shows up after a vigorous pour. Aroma is roasty, whisky, chocolate, molasses. Flavor is about the same, medium sweet, light bitter, some wood but not a lot. Flat as a board. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel.

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, wood, vanilla, alcohol - whisky. Flavour is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, whisky, dark roasted, chocolate. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20131012] 8-4-7-4-15 Bottle 330ml. [ As The Kernel Stout (Barrel Aged Blend) ].Clear dark black brown color with a small, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, chocolate, dark chocolate, coffee, strong coffee, dusty coffee. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chocolate, coffee, wood, sweet malt, whisky notes. Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus and Joes. Black color, virtually no head. Aroma and taste are malts, lightly roasted malts, coffee, bitter. Only lightly get the barrel aging, but it is there no doubt. Medium body, medium carbonation.

Bottle @ benzai thx to benzai. Black colour, no head. Smells sweet, whisky, wood, roasty, chocolate. Tastes sweet, cherry, red fruits, roasty.. Quite nice. Full body, silky, soft carbo.

Bottle split in room 316 at the Tulip Inn, Bodegraven after Day II of Borefts ’13, picked this up in the De Molen beer shop. Mid black with a thin tan head. Nose is dark fruits, dark malt, light roast, woody boozeness, cocoa, whisky. Taste comprises dark roast malt, cocoa, light booze, earthy, chocolate, hint of woody whiskyness. Medium bodied, fine carbonation. Solid stuff!

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are chocolate, roast malt, wood, licorice, cocoa and hops. Nice and smooth.
