Aside from the light bitter hop flavors, Rothaus Hefeweizen has an additionally important flavor component that’s typical for this variety: brewer’s yeast. For this beer variety, a top-fermented yeast is used as opposed to the one that’s bottom-fermented. In contrast to our other beers, our Hefeweizen is unfiltered when bottled.

0,5 l bottle. Unclear pale orange in the glass, very foamy white head. Banana and yeast on the nose.Taste starts fruity, banana and citrus, wheat, less yeast, hints of sulfur. Later some dry elements and chewing gum. Typical nice and fresh german Hefeweizen.

Keg at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. Always available here, but I’ve never tried it before as there is usually something more interesting available on the handpumps. A bright straw pour with a ring of white head; grainy aroma with a slight sourness; smooth wheaty body with a satisfying weight, and a touch of banana and clove; then lightly bitter with some pleasant biscuity spice to finish.

[backlog] 29-08-15 / 500ml bottle at Wasems, Ingelheim. A lot of banana, decent Weizen. I started rating my beers with Untappd and a few basic notes. Now I want to rate them on ratebeer. So my rating sometimes lack some information. Just ignore it, it is for my personal statistics. Untappd-Rating 3.75/5

500ml bottle from Great Grog. Pours clear golden orange with a huge white head. Aromas of wheat, cereal grains, dough. Faint lemon. Banana and clove kicks in once I pour the sediment in the glass. Taste is light sweet, more brad and lemon. Cranny texture, clean finish.
