Aside from the light bitter hop flavors, Rothaus Hefeweizen has an additionally important flavor component that’s typical for this variety: brewer’s yeast. For this beer variety, a top-fermented yeast is used as opposed to the one that’s bottom-fermented. In contrast to our other beers, our Hefeweizen is unfiltered when bottled.

Bottle in Freiburg. Rich, malty,and estery. Lots of banana and cloves and wheaty biscuits. Very cloudy, deep, dark golden with a high, superfine head. Rich and fruity, malty but not overly sweet. Rather crisp and clean. Low carbonation. Nicely fruity with some citrus notes. Another winner from this brewery and a solid weizen.

Bottle. Cloudy orange with a firm white head. Aroma of clove, banana and a little bit of bubblegum. Taste of citrus fruits, wheat, banana, clove and yeast. Fruity without being sweet. Low bitterness. Medium to strong carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel. Very balanced, very refreshing, very tasty. Great Weizen.
