0.25 l bottle from ’Slijterij ’t Fust’ (Amsterdam), best before November 2016. Very dark red to black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, brown head. Roasty-malty, minimally smoky aroma of milk chocolate, cocoa, burnt nuts and vanilla. Roasty-malty, minimally smoky taste of milk chocolate, vanilla, cocoa and hints of licorice, followed by a medium long, roasty, slightly bitter finish. Medium to full body, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, flat. Very pleasant, like it a lot!

250 ml. bottle. Purchased @ T-Drinks. That name & description… yeah,…. Not even sure if it is accusatory or just messed-up. Black / very dark brown, uneven & very patchy deep mocha bubbles for a head. Nose is charred coffee, soy sauce, licorice mixed with smoke, light mocha but umami, soy sauce & roast notes dominate. Taste is herbal bitterness, bitter black chocolate, smoky soy sauce, umami notes, quite herbal bitter, light mocha, licorice savory sweetness in the back, some heavily roasted coffee ground,… Tad lower carbonation, touch thinner & lightly grainy body. Overall a pretty decent beer esp. for a stout so heavy on bitterness, umami & herbal notes as this one with less focus on sweetness even though there is a fair bit in the back.

Draught @ Van Moll Brewpub Oersoep Tap Takeover. Opaque black color, medium sized brown head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, roast, some coffee roast, moderately bitter. Decent body and carbonation. Hmm it’s ok but I’m not really impressed. Shouldn’t rate style wise, but for an imperial stout this is below par.
