Leute Bokbier was first brewed in 1927. It was then called Leutebock and was a lager (bottom fermentation), a completely different beer than the current one. Production was stopped after a number of years. In 1997, 70 years later, Leute Bokbier was relaunched as a completely different beer.

Fun fact: the name “bokbier” does not refer to bokbier, but literally to the ''bok'' or buck.

Tap @ Staminee de Garre, Bruges. Nice stemless glass. Opaque redbrown colour, nice tan head, nice lacing. Sweet malty nose, caramel, brown sugar, raisins, roasted, herbs. Taste medium sweet, light bitter, hint of coffee. Creamy texture, medium to full body, sweetbitter finish, roastiness remains, a really good beer.

Nose is red berrys, slight bread, sugar. Taste is bread, cherry, very slight cola, tiny smoke, slight nut, slight latte, slight metallic touch; all the flavours are a bit thin on the ground. Mouthfeel is a bit thin for the style and too fizzy. It’s nice without being exceptional

This ale pours ruby red/brown with thin, silky beige head. Aroma is candy, peat and smoke. Taste is chocolate, malt and some lingering hop bitterness. Let this one warm a bit, the flavor really comes out in the end.
