Though it's name is derived from the early French explorers who first charted Wisconsin waters, La Du Bay is a right and proper English Style IPA. Liberally bittered using fine English hops to complement its prominent malt characteristics. An ideal beer to transition your palette from slumber to spring.

Bottle. Dark amber color. Bread dough and medium sweet, there are hops that are dry and bitter and less prominent than the sweet, brown sugar malt.

Pours a cloudy, reddish-copper, with middling head. Hops, malt, and grain are all present in the aroma. Flavor is quite malty-sweet, with some hop bite in the background. Bitter finish. Well-balanced.

Draught @ Waterfront Ale House. Reddish dark amber with medium sized creamy beige head, slight caramel aroma, low carbonation, slightly hoppy bitter caramel taste, abrupt finish with bitter aftertaste. I did not really taste the hops much, more like an ESB.

Bottle at Top Hops, NY, 19/5/2015. AMber in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Hedgerow, slightly spicy, hops, robust, earthy malts, some warming alcohol before a dryish finish. Good.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a slight orange hue and a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has earthy grains and hay with a bit of sweet citrus and grass underlying. Flavor is grassy with some sweet grains and a kiss of citrus.

Bottle. Pours an oily orange/amber. Thin dissapating head. Aromas of earthy hops, sweet malt, and licorice? Taste is bready malts and earthy hops with a bit of lingering bitterness. Medium bodied witha crisp finish. Very different than IPA’s I’ve been drinking..... so this is very nice!

Bottle - pours orange, with a light haze - marketed as an English IPA, but this really seems more like a malt forward American IPA - not necessarily a bad thing - flavor of toasty, bready malts and toffee, followed by fairly sharp, high hop bitterness - a lot of fruity British hop character (styrian?) - long-lingering hop bitterness in the finish - it’s alright.

Tap at Old Fashioned. Unfiltered brown-orange. A really nice, fresh, big IPA. Foamy off-white head. Cool, crisp hop bite. Well done. Clean, drinkable. Great beer.

Bottled. An unclear amber beer with a rocky tan head. The aroma has notes of malt and over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and over ripe fruits, but also with an acidic edge. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.
