Cask at the Carousel Lounge, Hythe. Dull amber colour with a thin white head; fragrant leafy hop aroma; dry and biscuity with a sudden fruity burst; and then a well balanced bitter finish. A refined and elegant bitter.

(Cask at Sekforde Arms, Clerkenwell, London, 6 Aug 2007) Dark copper colour with brief beige head. Malty nose with dark fruit and caramel. Malty, nutty taste with caramel and moderate dusty bitterness in the finish. A long time ago this was one of the beer that got me into this love affair with beer. It’s no longer a great favourite, but surprisingly enough it retains a certain quality. Probably a good thing that W&Y took over from S&N. Better than expected, still a decent pint.
