Bottle. A- Cocoa, coffee, molasses, roasty. A- Dark color, dark liquid, minimal tan head. T- Cocoa, coffee, watery, slightly malty, roasty, smokey. P- Medium body, thin texture, medium carbonation, dry finish. O- A pretty substandard ale. Not a lot going on for this in terms of complexity. I was hoping for a full rich flavor profile of which was nonexistent. While it’s not completely revolting, it’s not savoring either. Pretty bland actually.

Not so good, not so good at all. Dark burnt caramel color, not much head. Nose was black malt, indistinct fruitiness, flavor much the same. Was very dry and acrid at first but better as the beer warmed and a sweetness came to the fore - but let’s not kid ourselves, this was not a pleasing malty sweetness, more of a sickly sweet note that only just covered the acrid.

On tap at Tapwerks. Pours near black with a creamy light brown head that lasts through out the beer and laces. Aroma has notes of thin earthy grains with a bit of musty chocolate. Flavor is thin as with sweet grain, light chocolate and earthiness.

dark brown and clear (like a cola) with small creamy head. Slightly sour malty aroma, Taste is somewhat sweet, malts in there, some nuttiness. Finish is dry and bitter. Not as bad as what I was prepared for....

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a reddish brown appearance with a brown head. Caramel, slight soy sauce, chocolate, a bit metallic aroma. Some more metal in the mouth. Slightly charred, burnt sugar / caramel, and doughy flavor. A hint of coffee. Moderate bitterness. Kind of bland. Not good.

Bottle. Light coffee, chocolate, and raisin malt aroma. Dark brown with nice head. Nutty chocolate malt and light herbal flavor. Body on the lighter side. A nice Mild - really wish Milds would gain more of a foothold in the states.

12 oz bottle. Aroma is cloyingly sweet, roasty, dark fruit. Pours clear cola brown with a one finger beige head with decent retention; falls into a skiff of foam. Taste is sweet, but not as cloying as the aroma let on. It’s a little roasty. Nice and creamy, medium body, fine carbonation. Not as bad as I was expecting.

12 ounce bottle, 12/5/13. Pours a clear dark brown color with a thin fizzy white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of dark malts and tart stone fruits. The taste is chocolate malts, clay and mild fruits. Thin and watery. Meh.
