Barrel aging Big Idjit is one of the most intuitive things we do here at Dugges. If you like ’em smoky, you’ll like this variant. A peated whisky barrel aged version of this bigger and bolder beer. Fireplace sipper!

For a long time, almost since our very beginning, we’ve brewed our iconic imperial stout Idjit. We’ve not only brewed the regular version but barrel aged versions, putting it in everything from whisky to bourbon barrels. We’ve done a Christmas version and even a half version in which we cut the ABV down a bit. What we never had done (commercially) was a maxed out version. So, we did. We had wanted to do that beer for a long time, an Idjit with extra everything. A straight forward big, bigger, biggest imperial stout. No fuss, just thick malty loveliness. And, when we did, we just took it back full circle and started barrel aging it. Who knows, maybe there’ll also be a Christmas version?
