Aged in Mackmyra whisky barrel that previously had been filled with bourbon.
For ease of reference, Mr. Cocoa is the strongest beer we have ever produced at Fjäderholmarnas Brewery. The beer style is called Imperial Stout, which for us means a double mashing with very generous amounts of hard roasted malt. When the beer has fermented it then rests in the tank and, at this point, we add a generous helping of cocoa nibs. This stylish combination gives a full-bodied, yet humble beer with palpable tones of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate.

330 ml bottle from Systembolaget, bb 29-08-2168 (haha!). Black, oily body, with a small, creamy dark beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, cocoa powder, soy sauce, tobacco, coffee, vanilla, some dark fruits, moderate bourbon. Tastes quite similar, with some booze and the bourbon barrel more prominent. Full, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation. Finishes warm, smooth, moderate roasty, a bit sweet, a bit dry, wooden, with cocoa powder, tobacco, bourbon, chocolate, some soy sauce, slight smokiness. Very tasty mix of creamy dark chocolate, robust roasty notes and the bourbon barrel, which is very well integrated, especially in the taste. Quite boozy, but not too overwhelming, fits in very well. Great example of a BA Imperial Stout, where the barrel improves the beer, instead of overpowering it. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 17

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival, 6 Oct 2017) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, cacao, vanilla and hints of bourbon. Malty, roasted taste with notes of cacao, coffee, oak wood, vanilla, caramel, sweet liquorice and a generous cacao bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Well made and tasty imperial stout with a rich bourbon barrel character. Excellent!
