Dry hopped saison brewed with local rye and wheat.

Introducing Saison Dolores, Almanac’s newest year-round beer. A bright, aromatic brew for all seasons inspired by San Francisco’s Mission District. We combine barley, rye and Sonoran Wheat grown in Mendocino County and ferment the beer with our house Saison yeast. Finally we dry hop it to create a California Saison with flavors of spicy white pepper, fruity melon and a clean food friendly finish.

Enjoy this lively aromatic farmhouse ale with fresh seafood, funky washed rind cheeses and classic french-style charcuterie.

Canned version introduced in 2016 part of the fresh beer series, brewed and canned in San Francisco at Fort Point.

A pale mellow brassy gold with a biscuit, corn husk and sweet honeyed aroma. Medium bodied but super dry finish. The taste is earl grey tea, graham, floral and herbal hops. For me I think it’d have shown in a better light earlier on in the tasting, a very solid brew though.

Bomber. Biscuits, peaches, oranges in the nose. Sweet and very fruity, something like a saison / IPA hybrid. Stone fruit, citrus, biscuits. Nice stuff.

Tap at Erzbierschof Zurich. Beautiful grass aroma over pepper and other spices. Medium body with a lively carbonation to fill the mouth completely. Juicy, a bit umami, the rye shows itself on the tongue. Lots of yeast and floral hops on the palate, with a lingering finish. Well done.

Bottle 650ml @ My sisters 30th birthday
Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, citrus, rye and orange. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long rye, caramel, orange and citrus finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a glossy burnt yellow to orange color with a sly transparency about it. Carbonation rides up at a nice pace. Quickly dissipated head. Barely any lacing.
The smell started off with a sweet herbal to earthy aroma rolling over some light grassy tones. Some white pepper. Light floral qualities. Light breadiness.
The flavor brings it all together, mainly leans sweet. Sweet herbal aftertaste with a smooth sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Controlled stickiness.
Overall, really nice saison that I would come back to.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Hazy golden color, creamy head. Smooth American Saison, moderately sweet, but a bit too much wood and vegetables.
Not bad.

Bright gold. Medium head. The aroma shows the rye in particular. Has a sweet barley taste. Lots of very fresh malt. Not a lot if saison taste, but super fresh pale malt. Sure there’s no oats in here?

On tap at St. Augustines on Rare Beer Tap Takeover. Floral, some spice, rye notes and some slight smoky notes. Good.

Bottle. Pours a near clear gold with an orange hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a good amount of grain with light flora, some light fruits and a light pepper note. Flavor has grains and rye with some light fruits, flora and a bit of pepper in the finish.

Bottle split at ABC Beer The Hague, 24/09/2015. One of mine. A hazed yellow / straw coloured pour with a lasting sticky white head. Aroma is grainy, tea leaves, saison yeast, hint of spice. Flavour is composed of grainy base malts, straw, lemon ,tea leaves, funky saison yeast, semi -sweet finish. Flavour is composed of highish carbonation, spicy finish. Ok standard saison, maybe a little too sweet.
