Bottle. Golden body with a frothy white head. Aroma of clove, lemon grass, tangerine, grapefruit, tropical fruits. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A bitter wit with orange, lemon and grapefruit tastes thrown in. One of the better balanced white IPAs I’ve had.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 12/4/2014. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy bright gold color with a 2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, coriander, clove, white pepper, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/grassy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, coriander, clove, white pepper, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of herbal/grassy bitterness and yeast spice on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, coriander, clove, white pepper, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and balance of citrus/grassy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent white IPA. All around great complexity and balance of citrus/grassy hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. A- Oranges, tangerines, citrus, hoppy. A- Golden color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Bitter, strong, subtle citrus, hoppy. P- Full body, sharp texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- When I drink white IPA’s I usually expect a nice blend of something between an IPA and a Belgian White. Not here. There is some spice from the Belgian White but otherwise this is in your face west coast hops. Very bitter and not what you would expect from the name or aroma even.

Pours a pale golden yellow with small, quickly-dissipating head. Citrus and pine aromas from the hops. The flavor is very citrusy as well--almost tastes like they threw some extra spices in there (coriander or spruce or something), almost like a witbier. Not my favorite.

Bomber from Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, CA. Pours gold iwth a 3 finger foamy/creamy off-white head. Lots of citrus zest in the aroma. Med body or better. Orange bombs and grapefruit rind in the flavor. So much hop. Such strong flavor. My brain is starting to insist this is a Belgian. Clearly hop overload. Finishes citrously hoppy and seriously bitter. West Coast!!!

22oz custom bottle pours with a clear deep gold body that supports a tall dirty white head. The aroma is taught with yeasty notes, tart yeastiness and then peach and lychee and lemon grass tart fruitiness as well as a dash of yeasty funk. Wow, yeasty yeasty aroma. The taste is similar with lemon grass, lychee tartness and mild funkiness as well as yeastiness blended with apricot and peach. Interesting but not something I’m enjoying terribly.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap ($5): Pours hazy yellow/orange with a white head. Aroma is lemony citrus, some orange, pine, resin, and wheat beer. Taste is citrus and resin at the front, but backed up by a nice wheat beer feel. The wheat gives it a nice mellow and sweet undertone. Quite nice.
