Bottle at home as Oud Zutphens Triple. Almost clear dark golden with small white head. Sweet red apple, sugary, honey, estery yeast (cloves, laurel) soft rye, dried orange peel, light herbs. It's quite sweet, but has a solid citrus-peel bitterness throughout which helps to make this a bit mor einteresting than just a very sweet malt-heavy beer. Full bodied. Not really a typical tripel, it doesn't have that much yeast character actually, but it's interesting and fairly decent.

Light sweet fruity nose. Cloudy orange amber colour, some floaties, minimal white foamy head. Aroma peach, apricot, honey, yeasty, cinnamon. Taste at first medium sweet fruitiness, followed by mild spicy bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, alcohol well-hidden, mild bitter finish with fruity undertones and hints of coriander and cinnamon, lingers on for a while. Interesting beer but not a tripel imo.

750 ml. Bottle split by two at ‘t Antwaerps Bierhuyske. BBF 09-08-2018. Hazy orange, creamy tanned head. Nose is sweet candied ripe peach, some soap, big sugar, gelatine candy, sugar, candied orange peel and esters. Massively sweet with big candied orange, very sweet sugar, orange peel, some soap, low esters, sweetness is main, chemical vanilla, odd touch to soapy but not bad. Rather enjoyed it sugar, candy & low malts body.

Medium, slightly cream-coloured head; muddy amber beer. Quite alcoholic nose, vegetable matter, organic soap. Sweet, and very spicy, with cinnamon and other speculooskruiden. Banana, hint at lime, if very sweet. Molasses, dark candi sugar. Warming up a bit, sauced pipetobacco. Quite prominent CO² feel, though the head isn’t very resistent. Bit sticky. Weird! I have an 8.5% version, but in any case it is spelled Triple!

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Hazy amber with a thin white head. Yeasty fruity aroma. Sweet bready taste. Rather long bitter finish, not really corresponding with the earlier sweet breadiness, but interesting nonetheless. Tasty but a bit weird, which I guess is a good thing.

0.33 l bottle from ’Stadsslijterij Groenmarkt Zutphen’ as ’Oud Zutphens Tripel’ at 8.5% abv, best before May 2018. Dark, golden amber with a medium large, frothy, stable, white head. Sweetish, slightly fruity and a bit spicy aroma of caramel, apple peel, honey, some peach, lots of marzipan and hints of clove. Sweet, medium spicy and slightly fruity taste of marzipan, caramel, honey, some peach and clove, followed by a medium long, spicy, slightly warming-alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Quite sweet, not that complex, but solidly balanced and quite drinkable. Overall decent.
