On tap at Beer DeLuxe. Pours brown. Cherry, sweet red wine, little vinegar, sweet raspberry finish. Could have more carbonation. Enjoyable.

Bottle. As Barrel Aged Sour Red, says it’s spontaneously fermented in oak barrels before blended with young beer. Slightly reddish brown with a large beige head that retreats to a far coat. Aroma is of earthy funk, not very vibrant cherries, aged Balsamic vinegar and oak. You might guess wine from the aroma. Very light bodied. Lowish carbonation. Tastes much as it smells with the addition of a little milky chocolate. No real bitterness but gently acidic. Designed, I guess, for someone who likes a lighter but still structured red wine to knock back with charcuterie and cheese. Needs a little more body (and it’s far too expensive) but this is a sophisticated drop and promises much.

Spicy fruity nose, some wood. Murky red/brown beer with thin white head. Thin body, flat mouthfeel. Finish is nutty, dry, fruity. Good, light quaffer. On tap at Two Row, Fitzroy.
