A dark brown beige-headed beer. The taste is rather light sweet. A traditional beer with high fermentation level, produced in small quantities, using only natural ingredients: hops, yeast, water and roasted malt.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of yespr/Ungstrup. Pours an opaque black with a very lively, light brown, lacing head. Vinous aroma of fruit and roasted malt. Medium body with very sweet, roasted malts and an unclean, metallic touch. No bitterness. 120108

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a huge light brown head. Mouldy and dark malty aroma. Flavour is of blood and metal in a thick sweet caramel malt blend. Initial taste is revolting, but gets better along the way with a mild sweetness. Ends sweet. Not much stout about this one.

Bottle: Poured black in color with a thick creamy light brown head. Sweet fruit/berry with some malt. Sweet metallic cola like taste with a licorice finish. Not impressive for something marketed as a stout.

Huge dark brown coarse head shrinks slowly. Opaque black body. Faint spicy licorice aroma. Sweet licorice taste with no real resistance, more like a soft drink. No aftertaste. Sharpish mouthfeel. Itβs OK, but kind of boring. No reason to get very excited about this. (0.33l bottle. Bottled November 2005.)

A pitch black beer with a collapsing brown head. The aorma is sour roasted, while the flavor is sweet with notes of licorice and yeast, leading to a dry roasted end.

As all De Bie beers, parked here; but thereβs grave doubt as to where the beers are currently brewed. Preposterously huge head, dark brown leaving shards of lace. Nose with liquorice, chocolate, chervil and dark malts. Speculoos (=specific kind of hard Belgian gingerbread), grapejuice, brown sugar, unfermented sweet worts. Tastes a bit like German Kraftmalz. Very creamy; full-bodied MF. As a sweet stout, more than acceptable. For the adepts of Imperial Stouts, however, this is going to be one hell of a letdown.
