(Bottle) Clear pale orangey yellow with no head. Moderately unpleasant aroma with vegetable and metallic notes, maybe a hint of biscuit. Light bodied and fizzy. Thin watery taste with unpleasant metallic aftertaste. Awful.

345ml bottle into glass. Aroma of metallic hops. Pale yellow beer with fulsome white head. Constant stream of tiny bubbles ascend. Watery body followed by cooked vegetables and tin. Yet another Matilda Bay beer that looks good. Unfortunately it tastes like flat XXXX. Not good.

Bottle, bb 9/15. Gold with a white head that lasts OK. Aroma of cardboard, honey, some lemon, very light tropical touches. Tired cardboardy malt, some spices, dull bitterness. Depressing.

This is a DISGRACE. An Australian national disgrace. Absolute cats you know what. These clowns have wacked ’Australian Pale Ale’ on the front label. Now everybody will think this is your standard craft Australian pale ale. Buy one from the 6 pack, and leave an unsaleable 5 pack in the fridge. Take it home and pour it on the weeds.

From a 345ml bottle on 15/11/2014. Pours a clear light golden with a small to medium head. Smells like a bad macro pale lager, with lots of stale grain and corn. The flavour isn’t a whole lot better, featuring a fair bit of sweet malt, just a hint of fruit, followed by the barest hop presence at the end. Has a thinnish body and medium carbonation. I was puzzled to see another APA from Matilda Bay, given they already have the more than passable Fat Yak and the quite good Alpha in the line up. After downing this, I’m even more perplexed, as this is a complete waste of time. This is an insipid, remarkably bland beer and the worst offering from MB so far (perhaps the CUB influence?). Sadly, this is a very long way from being the duck’s nuts.
