Notes from July 2012 $9 Bottle from New Beer. Best by 2029... Woot, I think I'm in the clear! Clear, pale amber body. Fizzy/delicate, head. Acid & lots of agitation. Micro-beaded carbonation, seltzer-ish body. Bittersweet scent. Kiwi, battery acid & socks. Cheesy asparagus. Very thin. Cheesy sourness. Cider vinegar & sugar free soda. Bitter, metallic finish. Numbing & refreshing. Lemony entrails. It's missing something.

W smaku bardzo wytrawne, sporo tanin, nut stajennych, lekkie owoce, ale raczej w typie gorzka skórka pomarańczy, cytryna, umiarkowana kwaśność. Wysycenie w normie, ciało lekkie, dobra pijalność, jest konkret. Znakomite piwo

Some beer styles never goes out of fashion, and geuze is deservedly one of them. Golden color with a white head that disappears. Slight haze, and some small particles in suspension. Aroma of brett from the very moment the bottle is opened. Mildly sour in taste, with some tartness growing in the aftertaste, but disappearing over time and leaving hints of a vinous or cidery impression at the end. Fairly dry. Complex, but not the most complex of its style. It is a beer that one should use enough time to drink and appreciate.

Im Glas präsentiert sich dieses Oude Geuze richtig schön orangekupfer und ist dabei kräftig opaltrüb. Der weiße, feinporige Schaum hält mäßig gut. Der Duft wirkt sehr fruchtig und bringt Noten von grünen Früchten, sauren Beeren, aber auch einen Hauch von Zitrus an die Nase. Der Antrunk bestätigt diese Eindrücke - es wird frisch und fruchtig-säuerlich-herb. Am Gaumen moussiert dieses Bier sehr angenehm und eine säuerlich-herbe Zitrusfrische mit Noten von Limette, Zitrone und Grapefruit kommt auf. Eine leichte Idee von Apfelessig kommt dabei auch auf. Aus dem Hintergrund klingen zarte Hefenoten an. So wirkt dieses Bier sehr erfrischend und noch relativ jung (MHD: 2042). Mundgefühl und Süffigkeit sind durch die Säure selbstverständlich etwas gebremst, aber so ein Bier schluckt man auch nicht literweise. Der Nachtrunk gestaltet sich langlebig und von hinten raus deutlich bitter. Mein Fazit: Dieses Bier entwickelt sich noch und hat mächtig Potenzial. Und dass Boon in Sachen Lambic und alles was damit zu tun hat, einfach fantastisch ist, weiß man ja. Als relativ junges Bier ist es dennoch sehr erfrischend und eignet sich als hervorragendes Genussbier im Sommer.
