Bottle at Dark Sky in Tekapo at start of honeymoon. Pitch black pour with puffy fine tan head. Aroma is roasted coffee and chocolate with metallic bitterness. Taste is crisp bitter, slightly metallic at first, then roasted coffee beans. Bitter finish. Light palate. Not bad. A bit metallic.

Clear dark brown beer, small dense creamy beige head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very roasted, bit smoky, campfire, coffee, bit malty, some cow fodder. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very malty start, roasted, very bitter, coffee. Aftertaste: very bitter, roasted, campfire, bitter coffee, not very impressive.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom Lβs place. Thanks Tom L. Dark brown to black. Nice chocolate, roast, some coffee, some ashy smokiness. Sweetish with a sourish note, bitterish finish. Nice.

This was the first beer I ever had in NZ. I drank it outside a cafe in mid-winter, in front of a fire. Mmmm

Probably not as OTT as Iβd expect from Pinhead. All up, itβs an easy drinking, reasonably unremarkable stout. It has a nice range of aromas including chocolate, coffee, caramel, lemon and cherry. The chocolate, coffee and lemon are prominent on tasting, but the palate is a little thin though the length is good.

330ml bottle. Aroma is chocolate, espresso and a little dried fruit. Flavour has coffee and chocolate but also some boozy fig notes. Nice.

Pours black with a light tan head.Nose shows dry roasted malt, cocoa and oatmeal.Very roasty flavours, quite dry. More oatmeal but no really coffee or chocolate, just dry roast. Turns out quite moreish though.Lovely creamy carbonation and body.

Bottle. Almost black with a small tan head. Aroma of mocha, Indian sweetmeats - fudge, cardamom, anise, vanilla - licorice. Medium bodied, a little oaty silkiness. A little light on the roasted flavours and not really rich, but pleasantly earthy.
