A novelty from the Red Duck factory. Oops, I was holding it upside down. Very dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark berries, oaked red wine, vanilla. Medium bodied, very silky. Tastes as it smells with creeping bitterness, lots of oak. Quite vinous, brooding. A slightly odd stemmy/ peppery note joins in at the end. Wouldn’t have minded just a little more sweetness (and body) but this is interesting and compelling.
