Bomber from the Woodland Nugget. Pours pale gold with a foamy, creamy white head. Very earthy aroma. Maybe a spice note. Deep inhale didn’t change that, but it wasn’t painful either. Near med body. Flavor is earthy, with something that could be herb or could be unusual fruit. It’s very clean and reasonably dry. Light bitter finish that is rather crisp. Crisp like many ciders. Good stuff.

Pour is a clear golden with a large white head. Aroma is cracker dry pils malt and an odd but in a good way citrus. Flavor is super dry pils malt with a bit of lemon and grass. After the swallow I get a bit of chamomile tea and a tart bitterness. Pretty decent pils. Very drinkable and dry.

This is my number 2 Pilsener of all time. Just ahead of New Belgium Blue Paddle and just below Victory Prima Pils.
The above were my comments back in Dec 25, 2003. Ha! What a failure of a review. Here’s an update from a fresh bottle:
22oz bottle, best by May 25th, 2014. Bought at Poplar Wine & Spirits for ~$4.
It pours a bright and clear straw gold with a 2 finger head of foam(vigorous pour) and plenty of lacing.
All those German Pils smells are here in abundance. Spicy hoppiness, grainy malt, definitely a desirable nose to me.
First sip in and I’m back in love with this long departed friend. A skillful use of the Hallertau and Mittelfruh hops give it that, yes, spicy hhop kick German Pilsner taste, helped by a slightly sweet, grainy taste from the malt. Yes!
On the heavy side of light bodied with good carbonation making for a great mouthfeel for the style.
I hoped for a long time that Deschutes would bring this back. And they did. And I am very grateful.
