So, this beer is part of our "Magnificent Mullet" series (aka ape drape; meerasche). We wanted to celebrate those who have donned one of the great hairdos of yesteryear, and what better way than infusing various fruits into a wheaty berliner-ish type thing. This one is "Melon Gibson" (a very wit-y […] Play on words), because we used lots of watermelons. The flavour is short and wheaty up front, but long and melony at the back.

Pours pale straw with a small head.Nose shows funky horse-blanket, soft watermelon and faint lemon. The watermelon is much more noticeable as a flavour in a confectionery sort of way, along with doughy wheat much later.Too much carbonation.

From a 330ml bottle on 13/4/2012. Pours a slightly cloudy light straw colour with a biggish white head that disappears quickly. There’s a bit of banana and melon in the aroma but not much else. Flavour wise, its very sweet with some bubblegum, banana and some watermelon. Unfortunately, it offers nothing in the way of balance. Comes across as a muted soft drink. The carbonation is quite high. Good packaging but an ordinary beer.

Bottle. Hazy pale orange with an inch of white head. High carbonation. Aroma of spices, citrus and wheat with fruity notes I would have guessed as berries blind. Taste is barely sweet at first with spices and some tartness, then watermelon comes roaring through at the end. After a while the melon gives way to spices. Dry finish. Pretty good.
