2019 RIS. I love this beer. Pours like milk and has aromas of cocoa, coffee, licorice, bread and a little grapefruit and pine. The King. Or, should I say, the Czar.

2018 edition, but says bottled 31/05/2019. So 1 year old.Pours black with a large tan head.Nose shows cocoa, bready malt, slight oxidised notes, toasty malt, and heavy roasted malt.Flavours include more heavy cocoa and roasted malt, a bit of a liquorice hit, a fair bit of bitterness from the roast but also a decent whack of chocolate syrup-like sweetness to balance it out. A bit more of the oxidised note. Very decadent. Booze is pretty well hidden. Starting to show it's age just a little, wouldn't necessarily recommend any further aging.

That be black. And boozy. With vanilla notes. And fancy chocolate nibs cation. In my mouth it is luscious. All cuddly and friendly. Drink this, but not mine.

(Bottle) Opaque lack with decent tan head. Good aroma with almost burnt dark roast malt, hints of coffee and chocolate. Amazing palate, rich, creamy, velvety and with good carbonation. There is also some stickiness to the palate. Good taste, with dominant very dark roast malt giving strong bitter, almost burnt flavours. Layered on this are rich sweet toffee notes and hints of chocolate. No hit of the alcohol. The finish is long and mixes sweetness and dark, rather than poppy, bitterness. An impressive beer.

Bottle @ Fanø Slumber Party, 2012. Pours black with a creamy head and lacings. Oak, chocolate, roast and coffee. Really roasted bitter flavor. A bit of fruit and warmth from alcohol. Smooth and sticky. Nice.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of thewolf. 12.3% ABV in this version. Pours an opaque black with a creamy light brown head. Sweet cocoa powder aroma. Quite full-bodied, again cocoa and some salty licorice with a fairly malty bitter finish. A different but enjoyable take on an Imperial Stout. 280712

Black with a lasting firm tan head. Aroma of licorice, toffee, cocoa and soy sauce. Sweet roasted flavour with lots of licorice and soy sauce and a bit of charcoal with a nice hoppy and bitter finish. A little too sweetand with that soy sauce.

[11/11] Tap. Black with a lasting tan head. Aroma of treacle, lots of coffee, burnt toffee, pine, citrus. Quite syrupy. Sweet with lots of dark sugars, but the sweetness is rapidly overtaken by strong bitterness and astringent coffee. Some licorice too. Holds the alcohol very well. Quite reminiscent of Great Divide Yeti. A little brash for me, but pretty impressive. [3.7] [6/18] Been a while. 2017 bottle, 11.2% ABV. Black, head disappears quickly. Big chocolate fudge aroma, some coffee, scorched sugars, vanilla syrup. Boozy. Resinous bitterness really builds at the end, but not before richness has a chance to trample you underfoot. Liked this again but still not quite as harmonious as it might be. But rather that than overly mannered.
