Medium brown reddish highlights. Toasty, lightly citrusy notes. Sweet and a bit tarry, needs a hop flavour boost.

(On tap - Forest Lodge Hotel) Black with a good slightly off-white head. Lovely aroma with notes of exotic / stone fruit. Full bodied with zingy carbonation. Taste is rich and dark with notes of coffee and dark chocolate. with nice refreshing fruity / floral overlay. Great hoppy bitter finish. Overall, this is an excellent beer - after two at 7% you know you have been drinking, but this is what beer is supposed to be.

From a 330ml bottle on 8/10/2011. Abv listed as 7.5% rather than 7.2%. Pours a very dark amber with a big head. Has a slightly fruity, hoppy aroma. The flavours are primarily dark chocolate and a touch of fruit. Very hoppy at the back. Another enjoyable beer from Murrays.

Pours ruby-tinted black, with a large, light tan head.Nose shows lots of fruity hops, with passion-fruit and peach very noticeable, along with some soft resinous pine. Later on some cocoa and roasted malt become apparent. Very nice.Very aggressive flavours, lots of pine, roasted malt, coffee and alcohol. Ends with a brutal hoppy and roasty bitterness.Carbonation seems a little high to me.

Bottle. Clear mid brown with a large lasting beige head. Low remaining carbonation. Aroma of pine, citrus, grapes, gooseberries, cut grass, a hint of chocolate and roast. Taste is dry with deeper roasted flavours and more pine than suggested by the smell. Lingering pine bitterness. I liked the way the roasty side and the IPA are brought together but left just slightly dissonant.
