A beer that has a dominant malty taste. This beer’s origins in a monk’s recipe are reflected in its heartiness. The Pope of Beers, Conrad Seidl, describes it as: “Almost black with a very slight red tone, a sensational, festive foam and truly extraordinary fragrance that at first summons up visions of greaves lard. The first taste is of mild fullness with an accompanying coffee tone, which becomes more dominant with the aftertaste. There is very little of the sweetness that is frequently to be tasted with doppelbock beer.” The Ayinger Celebrator has been ranked among the best beers of the world by the Chicago Testing Institute several times and has won numerous medals.

At home twice on 08-11-21 & 24-12-23, still outstanding.
Old rating from 04-09-16 - At Glasgow's Hippo Tap Room on Sauchiehall Street I spotted this on there bottled beer list. Great looking label, it pours beautifully with a brown/ black body and a beige head. Aromas of caramel & smoked malt. Taste is of caramel, chocolate, cocoa & smoked malt with a medium body. Aftertaste is of a smoked malty caramel. Outstanding Doppelbock, and one of the best beers I've ever tasted.

In the appart hotel Munich, I took this bottle at the brewery directly, it is a celebrator with another picture, good bock, sweet. 04.12.2018, German efficiency, travelling with stupid people from my ex sbb formation, the people change with the time, the power and the money change your soul and your spirit.

Draft at the Ayinger brauhaus. Simply put this is my absolute favorite doppel bock. Pours dark brown, with medium head. Taste is sweet and malt and the flavor is almost candyish but in a good way. Clean finish, just a great all around beer.

Since I have never had Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel nor Weltenburger Kloster Asam Bock I have to say this is absolutely my favorite beer. Aroma, appearance, taste, palate and overall perfect. (Had to re-reate because Andech’s beats it out!) Re-rate 12/10/17. Had it on draft. Best German beer.

Bottle at home, thanks to Eszter for this one. It shows fruits, earthy notes, cocoa, chocolate, coffee and even some walnut, so you get the whole package really. It’s light bodied with soft carbo, pretty easy to drink. Tasty and flavourful beer especially for the relatively low ABV, very good one.
