An 'American Farmhouse Ale.' It's a Belgian-inspired brew that uses a combination of European malts, hops from New New Zealand and the United States.. and a classic farmhouse yeast to achieve a fruity, yet spicy, melange of flavors and aroma.

$2.75 pint can from Wine Warehouse. Pours slight hazy pale gold with a large white head. Aroma immediately upon opening can: very fruity (and very pleasant) including stone fruit juice and citrus peel. Flavor is yeasty fruit, mostly bitter peach, a bit of straw, light barnyard, light gum. This is pretty damn good.

On tap @Ma Che Siete (Rome). Semi clear golden bright, frothy irregular white foam. Nose: lime, spicy, highlights of esters and a punch of brewing leftovers. Mouth: light body, sweet fruity a bit, inconsistent a bit. Just solid.

Tasty Saison from Stillwater, with a hefty malt center for the style and a dry, well-rounded finish. Grassy and semisweet on the front end, a mild tart undertone backing up notes of straw and clove, a slight buttered vanilla current developing behind the usual saison flavors. Grows floral on the back end, hints of bread lying underneath a firm bitterness. Proper saison nose, cloves and hay and fresh cut flowers, and the pour’s good as well, a slightly hazed gold with a modest head and moderate lace. Texture’s creamy for the style, not quite as effervescent as it should be but still tempting. Solid pint.
