Bottled. A dark red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and fruit, leading to a dry and bitter finish.

Bottle 34,5 cl. Courtesy of bluebetty. Pours a clear dark amber with an off-white head. Malty caramel aroma with a wee whiff of sweet berries. Medium body, a little caramel but hardly any roast. Again a little cherry, but absolutely no roast. Porter? I think not! 150311

From 345ml bottle. Has a moderate sweet caramel/coffee aroma, with a little fruitiness. Has quite a distinctive taste. There is definitely a slightly sour cherry element to it, which balances the sweet caramel malt quite nicely. Another solid effort from Malt Shovel.

Bottle, 12C. Dark reddish brown with a small light tan head. Fears of a liquid Cherry Ripe assuaged - there’s sourish cherry along with hazelnuts, mild toasted malt and a little cocoa in the nose. Taste is a bit sweeter (and less exotic) than the aroma suggests but there’s a powdery dryness to it too. Light body. The light roasted bitterness helps balance. It’s neither that chocolaty or cherryish - they are just hints on top of a plain porter, although they register a bit at the finish along with a little wood. Solid and interesting porter.

Bottle. Clear red brown with some beige head. Sweet and interesting aroma with grain and coffee hints. Medium body and carbonation. The flavour is quite unusual with a sweet and tangy foretaste that shifts to a complex mix of coffee (not chocolate as far as I am concerned) and grains / cereal (but interesting grain taste) and a slight bitterness in the finish. Overall, this is an unusual, rich, complex and pleasant beer.
