Crisp clear cola coloured body with a ridiculously thick tan head that shows a lot of glistening microbubbles - but huge for sure. Aroma of raisins, earthy malt, plums and prunes and a good dose of sugars tossed in the mix. Medium-bodied; Assertive plum and raisin flavour at first with a touch of tobacco and smoke with a touch of a meaty flavour at the end - all with some good sweetness and a little malty bite. Aftertaste shows more of the meaty and tobacco flavours than anything else, but some of the sweetness comes out as well. Overall, not such a great beer, but some interesting flavour combinations and a great way to celebrate an amazing Australian Open 2012 final between Nadal & Djokovic. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from just down the street from Rod Laver Arena at Slowbeer in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on 31-December-2009 for AU$3.50 sampled at home in Washington on 29-January-2012.

From a 330ml bottle on 20/7/2011. Pours dark with a medium head. Has a nice strong chocolate aroma with a dash of coffee. There’s more chocolate in the mouth, with some cherry and a mild roastiness. The carbonation is spot on. All up, this is a good, solid, well balanced porter. Rating 3.6.

Re-rate 23/7/2013. Not nearly as good as the in initial rating. The aroma and the flavour are quite subdued and the texture is a little thin. Just okay the second time around.

Opaque dark brown with a decent tan head. Smells of mild roasted malt, cherries, hay and a little cheese. Taste has some roast malt, licorice and coffee. Thin body, short finish. Sharp carbonation. A bit between two stools - it has neither the gentle mouth-filling touch of lighter porters nor the bracing firmness of more roasty ones.

Pours ruby/brown with a small but very long-lasting head.Aromas shows predominantly roasted malt, with sweet milk chocolate and coffee beans. Nice, but faint.Flavours are very similar, with easy-going toasty and roasted malt, little in the way of hops and a very mild roasty bitterness.Carbonation is way over the top, to the point of being annoying.
