(Can) Pours deep brown with small tan head. Pleasant aroma of chocolate, coffee, toffee and dark roast grain. Medium body with good lively fine carbonation. Good tasting beer with some toffee sweetness and pleasant hop and burnt bitterness. There’s some chocolate notes towards the start. Very drinkable.

Aromas of chocolate, biscuit and lemon. Silky mouthfeel but that lemony flavour is slightly discordant.

On tap at Hopfest #13 at Alehouse Project. Pours black with healthy but dissipating head. Burnt toast, toffee and caramel nose. Simialr flavours with some chocolate in there. Very welcome shift in flavours after a night on the hops.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a very thin, one half centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of prunes, raisins, grapes, figs, and other pitted fruits - potent sweetness and fruity notes. Medium-bodied; Assertive malty flavour with a ton of raisin and prune notes, a touch of grapes and light chocolate and finishes with a dry, musty malt flavour. Aftertaste is relatively mild, but the chocolate, malt and far and away the strongest taste is still the fig and prune flavours. Overall, not such a great beer - but nice to try on the opposite side of the world, especially after a year and nine months time. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Slowbeer in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on 31-December-2009 for AU$6.00 sampled on the opposite side of the planet at home in Washington on 02-October-2011.

Bottle. Dark brown. Admittedly I poured this into a tulip, but a crazily huge tan head - it was well out of bottle when I started to pour. Aroma of roasted malt, tart apple juice and chocolate. Tastes sweet then quite sour, with some coffee bitterness and apple sourness/ acidity at the finish. Medium body. Some toasted nut and soy sauce, too. A bit wacky, but I liked it.

Pours dark brown with a small tan head.Nose shows masses of dark chocolate, sweet licquorice, roasted barley, and unfortunately, some salty vegemite. Very rich.Flavours are overshadowed by that some salty, tangy vegemite note, almost sour. There’s a fair bit of roasted barley in there and an assertive roasty bitterness follows. But its all partially ruined by that wierd, salty, tangy flavour.Rich, creamy carbonation, but a little full-on.
