Foggy golden with big yeast flakes drifting around. Moderate white head. Average retention. Fruity hops and Belgian yeast on nose. Medium body. Dryish taste. Solid hops the leading part. Spicy yeast inbetween. Ligh to medium grassy bitterness. Not bad

Flesje gedronken tijdens weekje Texel. Goudgeel, licht troebel bier met stevige schuimkraag. Aroma van hop. Smaak is fruitig, citrusvruchten vooral sinaasappel. Nasmaak is iets bitter.

Bottle. Golden/orange. Nice head. Aroma of hops and grapefruit. Taste is grainy, yeasty, hoppy and sour. Citrus fruits (mostly grapefruit). Full bodied. Medium carbonation. Long lasting aftertaste. Feels like a mix between an IPA and a Witbier. Nice one.

Tap at Oluthuone Leskinen, Colour is cloudy golden with small creamy white head. Aromas and flavors: Fruits, tropical fruits, pineapple, sweetness, some hops and malts. Not very typical Belgian ale. Lots of tropical fruits. Hoppy.

330ml bottle. Hazy orange coloured pour with a foamy off-white head which doesn’t last too long. Aroma: citrussy hops, malt, mild spice/yeast. Taste: hops, malts, wheat, mildly bitter finish more so than a typical beer this style. medium bodied. Interesting beer, well balanced, but doesn’t really so much for me I’m afraid.

I thought this would be a hoppy brew but it turns out it is based on a Haarlem recipe from 1501 to make a Belgian Golden Ale using Oats, Wheat and Barley. The tweak on the orginial recipe is now they’ve added hops to it. Served in a tulip it pours a cloudy pale lemon gold with a thick head of white foam and a citrusy sweet hop bouquet coupled with some wheat/belgian yeast spiciness. Light bodied with a scratchy mouthfeel my overall impression is it drinks fairly smoothly. The taste is bitter citrus (lime/lemon) hop character, some wheat, a candyish sweetness then a dirty belgian funk in the finish. A bit of an odd bird of a beer but fun to drink. I wonder what it’d be like on draft...
