Hello Humanoid. We come in peace.

This Double IPA is brewed with malted barley, wheat and maize from the friendly carbon-based life forms over at Gladfield Malt.

Following a vigorous fermentation with the California Lager strain, we beamed up a ridiculous twelve grams per litre of hops, making this Rare Breed the hoppiest ever!

Sabro, Azacca, Columbus, Cascade and Fortnight.

Wyeast 2112 California Lager.

Schooner on tap at Club Rivers, Riverwood. Amber/red beer with thin white head and high lazy carbonation. Nose of sweet malt and earthy hops. Slight zing, bittersweet. Finish is dry and woody with red fruit, dark chocolate and berries. Sweet, bitter, complex, nice.

On tap at Heartbreaker. Hazy gold. Stone fruit nose but big piney taste. Pretty over the top and better for it. The sort of Rare Breed these guys should be making more of.

Bottle. I suspect trickery - or at the least, probing. Is it a "brut IPA" in disguise or "really" an IPL? But the hand of harsh reality's unglov'd and rather than working out whether it's too clever for its own good I'l just drink it. Slightly hazy amber with a large white head. Spectacular lacing. Floaty mandarin, grapefruit and tropical bubblegum aroma with some light chewed crackers behind. Some piny and herbal hints too. Very light bodied but somehow not watery - I guess some hints of resin fill things out a bit where it should feel empty. Fruity with citrus, light berries, less tropical fruit than expected, (erm) Norsca. Highish bitterness. Interesting and really good.
