Bottle from local Jumbo, BB 18/07/16, large sample. Clear amber to copper color, medium rocky head. Aroma of buttery caramel, slight spicy yeast. Quite sweet in taste, varamel, slight bitterness. Typical belgian amber stuff. Boring.

Pours a clear dark amber color, topped with a decent white head. Mild malty aroma with some gentle notes of caramel. Taste is similar - slight sweetness, caramel and mild bitterness in the finish. Nothing out of the ordinary really.

25cl, best before 06/06/15. Mild-smooth beginning. Quite dry, lots of bitterness. Grainy-sweetish, not too deep, Sweetish with lots of neutral bitterness in the aftertaste. A bit of unround.

Pours hazy amber with a frothy off-white head. Subtle aroma of caramel, grain, nuts and cereal. It tastes medium caramelly sweet and light grassy bitter; dry, grassy, sweetish finish. Light body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation. Quenching, okay. (Edited 20/5/18)

Classic pale ale from (originally) on of the first and leading Burton breweries, now made by AB InBev. Has been popular in Belgium for decades but lost much of its following to the specialty beer movement since then. Pale amber colour with stable, yellowish white head; light maltiness, nutty and caramelly, some grassy and flowery hops, subdued fruitiness; light body with medium carbo. Very drinkable session beer without much ambition, like the ’spéciales belges’ it is related to.

Roodbruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is licht zoet en licht bitter met iets van rook en drop. Blijft redelijk lang hangen. Gewoon een goed bier.
