Bottle. It’s a hazy, orange beer with a small, beige head. Piney, malty nose with resins and beefstock. The flavor is quite sweet, with piney, resiny hops giving a quite balancing bitterness, and beefstocky malts. Full body. The finish is quite bitter, overpowering the sweetness. A really nice one, probably not at the same level as the Hvedegoop, but a nice beer indeed. 091230

Bottle from Kris Wines, London. Drunk on the North Shields-Ijmuiden Ferry. Yo ho ho and a bottle of Oatgoop....Er, yeah; poured a copper like colour with a smallish white head. Nose was fragrant and quite fruity. Flavour offered plenty of citrus hop and some caramel malt, although not as sweet as perhaps anticipated for a barley wine. The balance was pretty good here, with the bitterness not too outlandish, which I’m guessing is maybe down to the oats. Dryish finish. Tasty stuff.

Bottle with thanks to coyotehunter for sharing. Sweet caramel aromas over a dark gold/light copper body with a foamy beige head. A little bit of fruit shows up in the nose as well, but I’m hard pressed to describe it in words. Flavor is heavy with peaches, cream and caramel. Thick and sticky stuff.

courtesy of Hopshunter. pours amber, off-white head. Aroma, caramel malts, grainy, mild hop aroma. Flavor, yeasty, some floral scent, sweet sugary caramel palate, boozy finish. Nice balance of hops and malts, finish keeps a mild bitter hop note that slowly blends in the malts and the 10%abv.
