Bottle shared at Bruce’s, London during The Stouts Tasting, Pt. II. Big thanks to Paul for this bottle! Pours black with a large, thick, beige cream head. Aroma holds some nice roast, alcohol, cocoa, suggestions of mocha. Medium to big sweet flavor, not cloying, rich, well toasted bread, some earth, dark chocolate, burnt earth, some ashes, hints of dark fruits. Full bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Warming finish, some ashy-roasty bitterness, bittersweet baking cocoa, very mellow coffee presence, light tangy dark fruits, suggestions of licorice, scorched earth. Very nice overall, though I think I like regular Speedway a bit more.

2013 vintage, shared bottle out of Adam Jackson’s cellar. Can’t thank you enough!! The nose has a strange Earthiness that I can only connect to fresh cut blades of grass. NOT hops but the grass after you cut it and it sat on the ground awhile. The flavor is dark fruits, roast and a finely brewed, subtle coffee bean. Earthy flavors. Unlike any coffee bean I have ever experienced before. The uniqueness of this brew overwhelms me. This is unlike any other coffee stout I have ever had. I do NOT gives ratings like this often. This is worthy.

2013 Release, 750ML in a wine glass at room temp

A - Pours pitch black but not as oily as I expected. Huge 4 finger leathery head that fades to a finger leaving behind really nice lacing very sticky.

S - Nose is very earthy, nutty and roasted. Coffee is there but it’s dominated by a very earthy almost dirt like nose with some oak.

T - Wow. I have no idea how to place this. Super acidic coffee bean texture, lots of muddy earthy and nutty notes with a delicate floral finish. This is simply about the coffee taste. Beyond that, milk chocolate, almonds and some cherries. Very rich and decadent and almost delicate like a mudslide meets shot of espresso. I can’t really describe it but very tasty.

M - Heavy body although a thin and oily finish. Very delicate and sort of remarkable. Leaves a nutty coffee taste around for a long time after drinking.

O - This is a great coffee stout. Probably one of the best coffee stouts I’ve ever had. Is it just Speedway (which has a great base beer) or is it the "shitty" beans they used? I honestly don’t know but wow. Worth seeking out.

enjoyed during 2011 RBWG pours thick black with a medium dark brown head. Aroma is roast, smoke, bitter cocoa and thin coffee. Flavor is rich roast and coffee ending with bitter burnt sugar and cocoa nibs.

Pours a nice mahogany with tan head. The aroma offers up loads of rich dark roasted coffee notes, dark chocolate, burnt toffee, more rich coffee and a faint sense of some sort of raspberry like esteriness. The taste is similar as it slide across the palate on a velvet carpet ushering in rich dark roasted coffee, burnt toffee, some chocolate and then slick oily rich coffee goodness into the finish.

Rating #1700! Pours black with light brown head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Lots of coffee flavor with sweet milk chocolate and roasted malts. Some bitterness from the coffee. Full body with moderate carbonation. Great brew.

Handbottle.[ Courtesy of cgarvieuk ]. Clear dark brown black color with virtually none head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, strong coffee, cacao, coffee, wood - tobacco, moderate alcohol. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is flat, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20110111]
