Rain Check Spiced Stout is our answer to the merciless wet weather that plagued and slowed the construction of our new brewery in Mills River, NC. This dark, rich, and roasty beer helps us forget the delays - a Rain Check we’ll take any time. Rain Check is a rich, toasty stout with flavors of burnt sugar and dark roasted malt spiked with ginger and lime to celebrate the end of dark and rainy days.

On tap @Mills RIver, August '21. Rounded pint. Brown on black with ruby highlights. Obvious chocolate & natural lime scent. Thin, charred, ginger & lime. Very dry. Well carbed. Mellow alcohol. Surprisingly easy.

Bottle from Ocean 9, Miami Beach. Pours black with a good sized tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, moderate warming spice with light ginger. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Full bodied, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. The level of spice is subtle, with just a little fiery ginger coming through in the finish. Good brew.

On tap at Akkurat. Black with a creamy slightly tan head. Aroma of malt, coffee and some ginger. Similar taste but with more spices. The body was around medium. A decent one.

Pitch black pour with a small light brown head and good retention. Good lacing. Thin mouthfeel for a stout. Taste is burnt cocoa, spiced coffee, some dark fruits and alcohol. Too strong. 8.9 ABV isn’t hidden enough for me.

not quite black, lots of red edges. the faint aroma I do get is better and ginger. Quite spicy. Cinnamon, honey, clove, ginger, tree bark, roast starts and is overloaded b spice. I do get barrel at the start and finish, certainly whiskey barrel. Surprised by the ABV. it drinks much lighter than the abv suggests.

Sample during the "Inventory Reduction Beer Tasting" on 12/26/2015. The beer pours a brown-black color with a medium tan head that recedes gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate malt, coffee and spices. Medium-bodied with flavors of roasted coffee, ginger, allspice and roast malt. The finish is roasty with a malt and spice aftertaste. Different, above average overall.
