330ml bottle from Sourced Market, St Pancras. Shared with Stefan. Creamy, tan-coloured head. Opaque, dark coloured body with a deep brownish glint. Rich roasted, dark chocolate aroma, some cocoa and coffee hints. Taste of anise, ash, coffee and mid-sweet chocolate. Roasted ending added by fruit bitterness. Surprisingly easy to drink. Pretty nice (hotel room, Leeds 29.06.2013).

On tap at Haand Festival. It pours a dark brown body, topped by a small, dark beige head leaving some lacings. Charcoal, roasted malts, burnt notes and some licorice in the aroma. The flavor has the same charcoalish, burnt thing found in the aroma, with some licorice, a little sweetness and some bitterness. Full-bodied, dry and nicely carbonated. Lasting finish. A really tasteful and pleasant stout, although a bit more burnt than I normally prefer them. 130525

(Damn - my notes disappeared when I had made my first rating.) On tap at Haand Beer Festival 2013, Drammen. Sampled before I had the barrel aged version. Appeared drier than the BA version, and lacks of course the oaky notes - otherwise it is much the same.
