Pours a solid black color with a smallish off white head that dissipates rather quickly, but does leave a fair amount of lace. Very sweet chocolate and caramel aroma. Smells like hershey’s chocolate syrup and little else. Taste is exactly as advertised in the nose. Chocolate syrup and milk chocolate with a hint of caramel and little else. If you like chocolate this is the beer for you, its tasty if not a bit one dimensional. Medium to thick body, light level of carbonation, creamy sweet and sticky mouthfeel. I really enjoyed this beer, in fact it was the only one that I got seconds of. Its tasty in chocolatey kind of way.

Draft @ brewpub. Served in pint glass. They offer a chocolate rim on the pint, (I declined that offer) Small thin, tan head. No head, no lace. Sweet roasted chocolate malt nose with light coffee. Soft carbonation with a nice chocolate and lite coffee notes. No hops here at all. Very creamy and smooth to drink, mouthfeel is medium. Lots of roasted malt. Nice drinker. Solid porter, nice and simple straightforward roasted porter.

Growler pours courtesy of jcwattsrugger. Pours deep mahogany with tan head. The aroma is sweet with malts, dark roasted malts, black licorice, some earthiness and chocolate. The taste has a nice load of chocolate surrounded by dark roasted to burnt malts and a mix of spicy black licorice and spicy hops. This has full rich dark roasted malt goodness from front to back. Nice Porter.

Growler partagé avec Jcwattsrugger. Cheers John for bringing this back from your trip up north.
