Poured up on tap at the brewpub with clear deep copper body and off white head. The aroma is what the hell? I get body odor, some soapiness, earthy garden salad, a mild level of hops and firm maltiness in the background. The taste has malts and a pleasing pulse of malt like graininess to start followed by muddy floral and spicy hops as well as a thick layer of earthy like hoppiness. The spicy hops mix with a mild amount of roasted malts to create a semi dry finish. Not sure this beer is above an NA beer in heft. 5.5% ABV might be a bit overstated. I’m guessing 0.5%.

A golden alt with a thin lacing white head. A mineral malt aroma with light German hops. In mouth, a crisp malt with faint hops, biscuitty, not bad, medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, Jan. 4 2011.
