Bonfire Dunkle Weiss is one of a series of special limited-run beers in styles that are more extreme or unusual. This one’s a unique dark wheat beer with a delicious toasty character, just like fall. We brought the chocolate, so don’t forget the marshmallows! ""Bonfire Dunkle Weiss is a big, toasty and chocolaty version of our Ebel’s Weiss. This beer has subtle clove, banana, vanilla, and caramel notes along with a nice malt sweetness. It is perfect for those cool fall nights. We bring the chocolate you bring the marshmallows.""

Bottle. Pours really dark for a DW. Bananas aroma etc. Small but quickly dissipating head. Somewhat low carbon/acid for a weiss. Pretty good though.

Bottle: Pours dark brown with a huge, dark tan head. Slightly tart aroma....unripe banana, caramel. Taste is slightly sour, cloves....banana. A little chocolate. Not bad.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter. Pours dark brown with a ruby hue and about 3 fingers of thick khaki head. Aroma of banana, chocolate and something a little tart. A little clove and nutmeg in there too. Taste is light tart. Im getting some distinct brett here. Infected bottle? I get a little chocolate and a little banana...but mostly sour. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a long, sour finish. Overall, interesting. I think it may be infected but i do like sours so its pretty good. I would like to try it how the brewer intended though.

Bottle. Strong clove, vanilla, banana and caramel malt aroma. Dark hazy brown with moderate head. Strong clove flavor - lighter notes of banana and caramel malt. Decent body. Nicely made - one for the clove lover.

Enjoyed on tap at Bad Apple in Chicago, IL. I don’t really get the other ratings for this brew, I thought introducing chocolate malt to a dunkleweizen style was pretty incredible! Appearance dark murky brown thin white head that laces to the glass. Aroma of chocolate malt and banana. Taste is fantastic, equal parts chocolate, banana, bit of hazelnut, wheat, clove, really tasty. I thought this was an awesome brew!

pours dark brown, off-white head. Aroma and flavors, sugary, raisin, caramel malts, light bitterness, bitter fruits. Plenty of roasted malts and caramel with a yeasty aspect giving place for some spices and bitter fruits. Just did not connect with the mouthfeel.

bottle - Pours dark red with a huge light than head. It has a mild malt aroma with a touch of dark fruit. The flavor is sweet malt with some chocolate that comes through as it warms. The palate is bubbly and surprisingly watery. Overall it’s okay, but I can’t say I’m impressed. Drank side by side with a Michelob Dunkel Weisse and I’m disappointed to say it’s a tossup which one is better.

22oz bottle in a Melbourn Bros glass. It pours with a thick, dark brown color and a medium head that slowly fades and leaves a thick, snowbank-like lacing on the sides of the glass. Aroma is definitely dunkelweizen with the signature earthy and estry mix for the style. More specifically, light brown banana with muddy leaves/wet forest and a bit of bark. Taste is is a bit more stripped down earthiness with weak esters and just a bit too commercial and empty. More specifically, lightly plastic and faintly sweet raisin-y bread on a wet dark day. Leaves a slight black banana bread aftertaste. An average mouthfeel and carbonation. Nice stab but I would like a bit more flair next in this one.
